Is this Heaven? NOPE, just Naples!

Well....I'm almost to week 4 of 'pre-maternity leave' and I must say...I could definitely get use to this! Week 1 was busy with tax preparations and packing for two seperate trips in two entirely different climates!! The second week I spent in Minnesota with my dad at Mayo Clinic. What an amazing place...almost a museum of sorts! Dad had some crazy-type testing done for his feet...it's confirmed he has full-blown neuropathy with not a lot of treatment options :( I really enjoyed the father/daughter bonding (even in freezing Minnesota!) AND NOW, here I am in FABULOUS Naples bonding with my girlfriend, Katie!! It's so wonderful to wake up, open the blinds and patio doors to see the beautiful green plants, flowers, palm trees and to smell the salty-ocean air. It's just relaxing to do nothing in a gorgeous environment! Next week, it's back to KC...February 9th is our 28 week appointment and round 3 in trying to find out the sex of Baby Harman....keep your fingers crossed!

24 week check-up!

So....we head in for our 24 week check-up today....all is well....baby's heartbeat is strong, momma is gaining weight (maybe a little too much...those darn holidays!) and we're off to the ultrasound area for round 2 in finding out the gender!! I drank a cup of coffee in the waiting room....this child IS going to move around and spread it's legs for a sneak peak! Ya Right!! SERIOUSLY, are you KIDDING ME?!? Baby Harman apparently is quite flexible and already enjoying yoga poses!! We watched this child from having it's legs stretched up to it's head while holding it's ankles (insert joke here!!) to having it sit on it's knees as if it was stretching it's quads. Do you think the knees or feet ever spread? Ahhh, NO!! Is this ANY indication as to how the next 18 years of our lives will be OR is this the stubborn Harman trait? :) So, we will try yet AGAIN at our 28 week check-up!

Wishing you the Very Best in 2009!

A year in review for 2008~

*We kicked off the year with a surprise visit to Indianapolis for Hattie's 40th birthday! What a weekend of drinking, Wii and playing cups! :)
*Late February into March was our annual Naples trip. Always a good time with the Harmans and seeing our best friends Dave and Katie!
*Early spring brought the stress of contract negotiations for Don at FOX. After some last minute changes, here we are, very happy in Kansas City!
*Madison turned 8 in April!
*Don turned 38 in May!
*Memorial Day weekend we traveled to Marietta, Ohio to visit Stan, Jo and meet up with the rest of the Harman clan. Our niece, Jennifer Grace turned one!
*Our summer was busy with weekend guests, girls' float days and backyard bbq's and swimming.
*July 4th was spend in Indiana with the Harman crew. Fresh Lobster, beer and fireworks were the highlights!
*We brought August in with our annual float/camp trip with the Grafs! Oh, the memories!
*Late August we took a road trip to the UP of Michigan to check out Mackinac Island and then over to the Lake Michigan side to Saugatuck. My best friend Molly planned a FABULOUS 30th surprise birthday party weekend for her husband, Nate! What a great time, gorgeous area and beautiful weather!
*AND THEN SEPTEMBER ROLLED AROUND....with news that will change our lives forever! We're pregnant!!.....let the ALL-DAY sickness begin! Due May 9th! :)
*October rolled around with a last minute trip to Marietta. Jo Harman passed away October 8th. We were very blessed to be able to say our good-byes as well as fill her in on the baby news! What an incredible woman....she is missed dearly!
*Our anniversary trip took us to Hot Springs, Arkansas! We stayed at a great Bed and Breakfast right on the lake...Madison LOVED it! This town has so much history!
*We hosted Turkey Day this year to my mom and her husband, who also brought Jaymison and Maxwell (2 of my 3 nephews)!
*December was spent traveling the state of Iowa for a week....I'm pretty sure it was the coldest time of the year, but we packed our snow gear! We managed to get a visit in with almost everyone on our list...if we didn't get to see you, we're sorry! Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
*Finally, Monica ended the year turning 33!
