Avery Jo Harman arrived on Tuesday May 12th, 2009 at 5:27pm (just a few days late!) :) She weighed in at 9lbs 1oz and was 20 inches long. BIG blue eyes and brown hair....long in the back!! She is ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!
This is our first attempt to keep you up to date. We'll work on pictures later. All is fine in Kansas City, and our goal is to up date this at least once a week-Monica will probably do most of it, she's more in the touch with the blogging scene! That's it for now! d

Playing Catch-Up!
WOW....almost 3 weeks have passed since our last blog! It's crazy how time stood still on my 'pre-maternity' leave and now on 'post-maternity' leave time is flying by! What a complete lifestyle change, but we are adjusting well and wouldn't change a thing!

Hospital Time!
Well, we're finally at the hospital after some discussion with regard to what we wanted to do. We're a tad overdue, and are inducing early Tuesday morning. Hoping for the best, and I'll probably be a dad by this time Tuesday (and Monica a mother). I guess that's about it for now- we'll keep you posted.

Happy Birthday Pretty Girl!!
Yep...our four-legged child turned 9 today! Not the greatest day for a birthday and a dog....it rained, it poured, it was thundering and lightning...all of which Madison HATES!! BUT, we did manage a trip to Three Dog Barkery for some yummy treats! Tomorrow we hope things dry up so we can take a trip to the park and play fetch...the days of being an 'only child' are coming to an end!

It's a Girl!
Late in finding out...and late in blogging the news, BUT FINALLY, after 3 ultrasounds....we can say Baby Girl Harman is on the way! Don has received many bits of advice for raising a daughter, but his favorite....'start a college fund and clean your gun'. HA...Don and a gun, NOW that would be a funny site! Speaking of Donald....this 'we' blog has quickly become a 'me' blog....his excuse, 'what should I ramble about?' HELLO!?! I had my 30 week check-up this week...all is fine. I am now on an every two week check. Today was absolutely GORGEOUS outside...hitting 78 degrees in March!! I'm definitely getting anxious for May and pushing a stroller around!!

Is this Heaven? NOPE, just Naples!
Well....I'm almost to week 4 of 'pre-maternity leave' and I must say...I could definitely get use to this! Week 1 was busy with tax preparations and packing for two seperate trips in two entirely different climates!! The second week I spent in Minnesota with my dad at Mayo Clinic. What an amazing place...almost a museum of sorts! Dad had some crazy-type testing done for his feet...it's confirmed he has full-blown neuropathy with not a lot of treatment options :( I really enjoyed the father/daughter bonding (even in freezing Minnesota!) AND NOW, here I am in FABULOUS Naples bonding with my girlfriend, Katie!! It's so wonderful to wake up, open the blinds and patio doors to see the beautiful green plants, flowers, palm trees and to smell the salty-ocean air. It's just relaxing to do nothing in a gorgeous environment! Next week, it's back to KC...February 9th is our 28 week appointment and round 3 in trying to find out the sex of Baby Harman....keep your fingers crossed!

24 week check-up!
So....we head in for our 24 week check-up today....all is well....baby's heartbeat is strong, momma is gaining weight (maybe a little too much...those darn holidays!) and we're off to the ultrasound area for round 2 in finding out the gender!! I drank a cup of coffee in the waiting room....this child IS going to move around and spread it's legs for a sneak peak! Ya Right!! SERIOUSLY, are you KIDDING ME?!? Baby Harman apparently is quite flexible and already enjoying yoga poses!! We watched this child from having it's legs stretched up to it's head while holding it's ankles (insert joke here!!) to having it sit on it's knees as if it was stretching it's quads. Do you think the knees or feet ever spread? Ahhh, NO!! Is this ANY indication as to how the next 18 years of our lives will be OR is this the stubborn Harman trait? :) So, we will try yet AGAIN at our 28 week check-up!
